About the Reviews and Rankings

Some root beer review websites rate root beer based on a number of criteria, awarding points based on carbonation, head, aroma, bottle design, etc.  Although I may comment on any of these aspects on any particular root beer, I am not concerned with awarding a point value in these areas.  I do not drink root beer to marvel at its robust head.  I drink root beer because it is delectable.  As a result, my ratings will be based exclusively on taste.  To the extent carbonation, or any other element, affects the taste of the root beer, it will factor into my rating.  However, I gross root beer will not be awarded extra points just because it has an impressive bottle design.  Rather, I will recognize the bottle design, and then give the root beer its deserved low score based on its wanting taste.

I will rank each root beer on a scale from 1 to 10.  For a soda to achieve a score of 10, it must have an undeniably delicious and transcendent taste.  Root beer, sarsaparilla, and birch beer generally taste scrumptious.  Consequently, a soda with a score of 5 or 6 is a good soda worth drinking.  Do not think of such a soda as a D- or F quality.  It simply does not rise to the level of an elite tasting root soda.

Admittedly, all of these ratings are completely subjective.  If you disagree with me, go ahead and rate it for yourself.  Each soda post includes a poll which allows you to share your personal rating.  I look forward to seeing your ratings and engaging in a common discussion about the best root sodas.
